The modernisation agenda: Digitalisation is the cornerstone of a powerful Germany – VATM expects rapid reduction of bureaucracy and simplifications

Berlin, 01.10.2025. The digitisation of all government, economic and social sectors is the cornerstone of a modern and powerful Germany. The modernisation agenda for government and administration, presented today by the Federal Ministry for Digital Affairs and State Modernisation, focuses on the key interfaces that will make administrative processes faster and more efficient for citizens and businesses.

The VATM welcomes the agenda: “We know that people are very willing to use digital services,” emphasises VATM Managing Director Dr Frederic Ufer. “Citizens and businesses need to experience public administration as a competent and cooperative partner – with high service quality, modern digital solutions and fully digitised processes.”

In order to free companies from unnecessary reporting and information obligations, it is crucial for the industry that genuine bureaucracy reduction takes place. This involves simplifying processes and ensuring the national implementation of the AI Regulation and the Data Act is business-friendly. Strengthening AI, cloud and edge infrastructure as part of a smart data centre strategy will also support the industry’s efforts.

“These measures will provide noticeable relief, increase competitiveness and make the state a pioneer for innovation and growth,” expects the managing director. “It is also clear that without an efficient digital infrastructure, the agenda’s appropriate and ambitious goals will remain piecemeal.” Fibre optic coverage for all households and a strong 5G network are the basis for digital administrative procedures, smart companies and AI-supported processes.

The Ministry’s modernisation agenda shows the way to a fast, digital and capable Germany. “The industry has long been calling for turbo to be applied to the digitisation of administration. Speed is now also needed in the implementation of the measures. The telecommunications industry stands alongside the Federal Ministry of Digital Affairs in providing the infrastructure for full digitisation and the use of AI.”
